In an increasingly connected and digital world, a laboratory relies on information and communication technologies. The security of laboratory systems can have an impact on the operational safety and efficiency of the laboratory in the event of cyberthreats. To go beyond what technology can provide as protection against IT security risks, we need to strengthen the first line of defense, which is the laboratory staff.
To this end, GIZ has recruited the Ecole Supérieure Africaine des Technologies de l'Information et de la Communication (ESATIC), specialized in cybersecurity, to provide on-site cybersecurity training for 05 of its partners in the G5 Sahel countries (Chad, Burkina Faso, Mauritania, Mali, Niger). Given the importance of cybersecurity in the operation of laboratories, and in order to consolidate its knowledge, this training consists of two modules:
The purpose of this report is to give an account of the various activities carried out as part of this training mission.
Overall, the training met the expectations of the participants. While some had concerns that were addressed, the consultants' participation was equally active. The strong points of the workshop were the mastery of the subject, fruitful exchanges, references to practices and practical work. Weak points, however, included the duration of the training. Overall, participants found the training content to be dense, interesting and enriching, the exchanges frank, fruitful and open, and the logistics good.
